8" Circular Slide Rule
LATE MODEL, EXCELLENT condition. This beautiful satin finish aluminum circular rule was intended for the graphics industry, used for sizing paper and images for enlargement, reproduction, etc, but is a fully functional C/D scale rule for any general math purpose (mark-up/discount, multiplication, division, percentages, etc.). The rule has an inner rotating disk inside a stationary one, and an ingeniously hung movable cursor which looks as if it hangs in mid-air over the rule body. If you have wanted a truly elegant circular to add to your collection, this is the rule! Beautifully made and finished, the back is covered in a textured black gripping surface. Includes black vinyl case, with instructions (in German) on the rear. Norma is a German slide rule maker, Grafia was their trade name for these graphic arts circular rules.

Also referred to (incorrectly) as Fields or Field's Hydraulic Calculator, this is the original 1950 copyright design from James W. Feild, still produced today by his family. These are BRAND NEW, freshly manufactured by Perrygraf, complete with protective paper sleeve. Full directions are on the rear of the calculator, so they can never be lost. Used to calculate the gravity flow of fluids in pipes, this classic design remains the gold standard almost 60 years after its invention. We get requests for this constantly, but could never find a source other than a few tattered used ones. We are happy to finally have a reliable source, and can now provide these new calculators in quantity. This is arguably the most famous (and maybe the most complex) Perrygraf ever made, and still in high demand. These are made of heavy white card stock, with black printing, and come with a manila envelope sleeve.

A mid-sized 4 1/4 inch pocket circular slide rule, with dual, nested rotating disks on one side, single rotating disk on the other, very unusual design.
Includes duplex cursor with typical SIC (Scientific Instruments Co.) scale markings right on the cursor in red. Very nice rule, complete with vinyl slip case, box and factory manual. The design is marked copyright 1961. This is a powerful pocket rule, with trig performance equal to a much larger straight rule, plus Log Log and all other common scales. Plastic body and disks.
BRAND NEW, still sealed in the original factory bag! SIC, Sinco or Scientific Instruments Company (all the same) sold several maker's rules under their label in the USA, often with very nice improvements, such as this one. The rule is actually made by Concise in Japan.(15 Scales!)

Gilson's most famous aluminum circular slide rule, with alternating yellow/white stripes and fractional converter/operator scales. This rule was made by Gilson in Florida but was often sold by numerous other companies, including POST, Dietzgen, Tavella, Bruning and others.
This is a very powerful rule, with 3 sets of trig scales (sin/tan), giving performance equal to a much larger straight rule, and still has the orignal printed manual.
The rule has unique fractional 'binary' scales that permit operations directly with fractional numbers, and also drill size scales. Rotating dual cursors with a slip clutch on one side, and a single cursor on the other. MINT condition rule and excellent case. Cases for these rules were made of random fabric materials at the factory, and each one is a bit different. The set offered IS the exact rule pictured, and has never been used (other than by me photographing it), it is still NEW. It's very hard to find a set in such nice over-all condition, you won't be disappointed. This is the nicest example I have seen so far.

The TPC scale correspond to 8" per statute mile used on Sectional Aeronautical Charts, and the ONC scale 16" per statute mile used on World Aeronautical charts. (These are the US civil aviation names, the military and maybe other countries use the TPC/OPC designations.
The compass rose is normally placed on a starting point on a chart orientated to north, then the scale is rotated to the desired course. The heading is read on the compass rose, and the milage is read on the TPC/ONC scale. If you wish to know more, e-mail Craig Kielhofer who is a pilot and can answer your questions.

Yet another strange slide rule artifact from long ago. This pencil cup or desk caddy has two circular slide rule bands that rotate around the cup body, and perform US to metric unit conversions of all kinds.
A surprisingly handy gizmo, these are new in the factory box, all are white with black text (this also exist in black with white text, and red with white text, but this is what we have). Converts temperature, length, weight, area, speed and volume. Impressive computing power for a pencil cup.

4 Inch Duplex Circular Pickett's most popular aluminum circular slide rule, with decimal to fraction conversions and additional scales on rear face. Very nice rule, still new in the original blister package, something you just don't see very often! complete with gold embossed black leather case and original Pickett manual. This is a powerful lightweight pocket rule, with performance equal to a much larger straight rule. Rotating dual cursors on one side (with scales ID's on cursor), single on the reverse. Rule, manual and case are very good condition. Packaged PIC is the actual rule offered, the close ups are another rule for reference, as the rule offered is still sealed.

Circular rules offer greater scale length in a smaller physical package, so that you don't poke the guy at the next desk in the eye with that 20 inch straight rule in your quest for better resolution. Concise circular rules also offer some interesting 'look-up' and conversion features to the basic rule for added utility. Circulars come in plastic and metal construction (plus paper when made as perrygrafs), but not in wood.
