This year, our 11th Annual Slide Rule Auction is for a very specific and personal purpose, to help our friend Foo fight the serious costs of treating Myeloma (cancer of the blood plasma cells).
Many of you know Foo, and what a tireless booster of slide rules, and intrepid discoverer he was of lost troves of them where nobody thought to look. He has been a great friend to many of us in the slide rule world, so at the SRU, we are running auctions all through the month of May to help raise funds for his chemotherapy and bone marrow transplant. We have tons of goodies on the site, including 2 rare CHEMICAL Rules and this is the last auction, ends May 31st.

SEARCH PROBLEMS!
The new search script from Google has been a real problem, it DOES NOT render correctly in IE9 (produces a huge blank light blue field), but works correctly in everything else. You may have noticed this odd blank problem recently on many ebay listings as well. There is simply no fix for it, so we have removed it from everywhere but the BOTTOM of the gateway page, so it does not destroy the page view. You may still have to turn on scripts each time you visit that page in IE (wow, what a freature...) This is VERY unfortunate, but there it is. Our apologies for any weird page problems it has created for you. Firefox or Chrome are certainly suggested by us as far more suitable browsers. Don't forget control-F within your browser searches the page you are on!

Wondering what happened to those new Oughtred Society Slide Rule Reference Manuals? The second edition was supposed to ship in September, but it looks like it will now be November at the earliest, due to color printing issues. The proof quality was not up to standards, so the printer had to do it over, and that's pushed us back a while. Don't despair, they ARE coming.
