Only one original catalog has been found so far (from june of 1977, very late in production), and even direct inquiries to the factory have turned up no other original model information or catalog pages. Staedtler produced slide rules as a very small side line, and was and is mainly involved in art materials, drafting supplies and tools, inks, pens, pencils, and related items. Unlike many other slide rule makers, and like Faber-Castell, Staedtler still has a flourishing business in its other market areas, and does not seem to have missed this market segment at all. Their rules had a very distinctive, clean and crisp design, and were mainly made with a pastel blue colored slides. Scales were self-documenting (on the right hand side), and rules were produced in progressively more complex formats of the same basic designs. The same core designs were made in both simplex and duplex formats, and with additional scales added to create a full range of rules. Staedtler has numerous affiliate companies, and manufactures world wide from Brazil to Germany, the local company usually appearing as the suffix after Staedtler-. There are rules known to be made by other subsidiaries (such as Noris), but we do not have information on them yet. There appear to have been no circular or demonstration rules from Staedtler, and very few pocket rules, most are full sized rules.
