We found these in with a large box miscellaneous microscope and optics parts, it does not appear to be a laser diode, and leading experts in our advanced laboratories have identified this as being in the “mystery category”. Possibly a luminance/light sensor.

Thanks again to one of our very knowledgeable users, we’ve got some more information on these parts:
They are possibly custom, and very impressive PCB-mount Grayhill multideck rotary switches. They clearly have 6 decks and appear to have 6 poles and (based on the end cap markings) probably 12 positions, making for (probably) 6P12T layout. The number “81073” on the endplate is a number identifying Grayhill, rather than indicating anything about the switch. The probable model number “Y50839” does not turn up in a search and “0913” is likely a manufacturing date of September 2013.

We are lucky to have so many wonderful people that visit our site, and a very generous and knowledgeable user has shed some light on what this component is:
The part number on the case corresponds to a retrofit power filter for the “Ultra Linear Amplifier Module” (ULAM) used as the TX power amplifier in some Alcatel-Lucent cellular telephone base stations. The warning label is to allow the capacitor to drain before disconnecting it, (the ULAM was quite power-hungry and would quickly discharge the capacitor) lest you find your fingers shorting a 5600uF capacitor charged to 48V, which could be a shockingly electrifying experience

If you’re looking to build any small devices that need to register sound in an environment (say, noise activated recording via an Arduino, or something similar), electret condenser mics are the perfect component. They are simple, robust, don’t consume a lot of power, and very easy to work with. Operating frequency is typically 20Hz to 16kHz, and can operate on voltages between 2V and 10V (2-5V is usually recommended).
Sold in sets of four pieces.
