The TCR series is a very robust design of SCR phase controlled regulated power supply. In an SCR phase-controlled DC Power Supply, output is controlled by modulating the conduction angle of the controlled SCRs. In the TCR Series, input AC is applied to three pair of bi-directionally connected SCRs placed within the delta connected primary of the main power transformer. The Secondary voltage of this transformer is rectified and double L/C filtered to provide a low ripple DC output. Both output voltage and current are sensed and compared against internal references or externally applied control levels so the supply provides either constant voltage or constant current regulation with automatic crossover depending on control level. Additional circuitry provides bias levels, circuit protection and metering functions.

The HP 8981B vector modulation analyzer (and HP 8780A/8782B vector signal generators) can be used to adjust and troubleshoot I/Q modulators, demodulators, and I/Q modulated signals used in digital mobile radio, microwave radio, and the transmission of digital video. The analyzers can be connected to the I/Q outputs of a demodulator in a receiver, or to IF test points. Once connected, the 8981B displays constellations, EYE diagrams, and vector diagrams of digital modulation formats such as QPSK, 16QAM, 64QAM, and 256QAM. The analyzer also makes statistical measures of system quality such as closure, lock angle error, and quadrature error. Through these “constellation analysis” techniques, transmission quality can be measured and monitored to detect degradations in the transmission link before link bit error rates reach unacceptable levels.

The Hewlett-Packard Model 5345A Electronic Counter is a reciprocal counter capable of direct measurements to 500 MHz. The counter’s ability to accept plug-in accessories extends its inherent capabilities and provides for a variety of additional measurements. The instrument measures frequency, period, period average, single-shot time interval, time interval average, and ratio. It also provides a totalize function, whereby two signals can be simultaneously totalized with the displayed result being the sum or difference in the total number of counts. Using the 5245 series of plug-ins (with 10590A Adapter) extends the frequency rage to 18 GHz and adds other features, such as DVM capability.
This unit does not include any modules, and has a damaged pot on the front control panel, but is otherwise functional.
