HP / Agilent Service and Repair Parts and Cross Reference Information Component Data, Links to useful web resources, and a Directory of available parts on our site. Skip the INTRO, Go RIGHT to the CATALOG! This page has links to all our HP / Agilent service and repair parts inventory. We have ICs and transistors, internal electronic parts, case and cover parts, knobs, shafts and transformers. Email if you need something we don't show. NAVIGATION: To make your life easier, and help you find exactly what you want, we have broken the on-line equipment catalogs into smaller sections. Just CLICK on the item you are looking for at the left, to see the matching catalog. Large graphical catalogs are a bit SLOW, so please give them a bit of time to load. The top header of each catalog is largely the same, so don't think you are stuck in one place! You can order anything here just by picking up the phone, and calling (250) 769-1834 during normal office hours, 8:30AM to 4:30PM PST, OR, Email your order to Susan HERE. SHIPPING: Preferred and Alternate Methods as of June 4, 2013, CLICK for FULL DETAILS ON OUR FAQ Page. Rates are now changing rapidy, often with little notice to us, so all the data has been transferred to the FAQ page for speedy updating.E-Mail Susan if you want a quote for shipping to other destinations, or for something heavy. Sorry, we can't safely send most individual small parts in a regular letter envelope, they get destroyed by the automated handling equipment. Sometimes we can ship very rugged parts in a small padded envelope by letter post. Ask Susan. There is a packing charge for large or heavy equipment, see the FAQ for details. If we have your valid data on file, you can just click on the ORDER email link to place an order and indicate your approval to bill, and we will do the rest. We keep your active information for ONE YEAR for your convenience. If this is the first time you have dealt with us, you can phone +1 (250) 769-1834 to supply the billing info, or send it by the email link, as you prefer. We accept VISA/MC, international money order, Paypal (to Susan@Okanagan.net), and bank wire transfer. Please note that there are transaction fees with Paypal and wire transfer payments, the wire transfer fee is frankly horrifying. The CATALOG will appear below shortly!

HP to Industry Standard Semiconductor Conversion Index and Service Info Cross-Reference data is taken from "dual marked parts" tech briefs and HP Manuals. Use with care, believed to be correct, but may not take into account special selections or typo errors. IMPORTANT! Parts marked with an asterisk (*) were provided by other generous net-citizens, and are not from our own library or research, so use with care, as we cannot physically verify these numbers. NOW AVAILABLE! HP Diode/Transistor massive cross reference you can download and use locally. These 15 pages cover most 1820- to 1912- series semiconductor numbers we have been able to find and confirm. These cross-references have now been converted to a single PDF file, for quick download with Adobe Acrobat. PLEASE, DO NOT LINK TO THIS FILE! CLICK HERE To Get The Main Index as a PDF file! Includes 15 pages of part number conversions, transistors, ICs, diodes and rectifiers. Just arrived, 4 more pages of older (1900) diode and (1850) transistor part numbers from an HP 1981 Bench Brief, includes many low dash-numbers not available before. PLUS a reverse 1N/2N chart This is very, very useful information, and nearly impossible to find! Download it to your machine for use, PLEASE DO NOT LINK to these images! All parts are original HP items, even if/when marked with the root number, rather than 19XX-XXXX, etc. All new parts are from ex-HP factory or service parts stock, used parts are from HP equipment, and in most cases are simply unplugged from sockets, not unsoldered, but some discrete parts can only be unsoldered. Where possible, we do a functional check on used parts, but all used items are supplied as-is. | |||
IMPORTANT, the minimum airmail insured (Expresspost) shipping charge (regardless of parts cost) on any shipment is US$18, which will typically ship up to 1 pound. Destinations overseas are more. |

Many HP parts have somewhat cryptic markings, and a bit of help is needed to understand their system. Generally, they used "house numbered" parts for all semiconductors, not conventional 1N/2N numbers. This is not always true, but where theere was any parts volume it was marked with the HP designation. There are many reasons for this, first, many unique vendor part numbers are equal to a single HP design deignation, so it is far less confusing for their documentation and parts control to do it this way. Second, it is harder for competitors to reverse engineer this product if no parts data is obvious. Third, it correctly identifies and deals with selected parts from a mainstream part number. Last, it ties the service of the instrument back to the maker, so it provides an ongoing revenue stream over the life of the instrument. There is a parts prefix (4 digits) that identifies the KIND of component it is, resistor, transistor, pot, etc., and a 4 digit suffix that uniquely identifies THAT part within the group. A TRANSISTOR normally begins 185X, where X is any number from 0-9. Early parts had only a 3 digit suffix, so you have to add in the leading zeroes to get the current full number. ICs begin 182X, where X is any number from 0-9, again followed by the specific part suffix. Be aware that a 2N equivalent is a wide specification, and the HP equivalent part may have been selected from that for gain, Ft, leakage, Voltage or other features, so some experimentation might be required with a substitution. 1850- PNP Germanium Transistors 1851- NPN Germanium Transistors 1853- PNP Silicon Transistors 1854- NPN Silicon Transistors 1855- FETs 1858- Transistor Arrays 1884- SCRs, Triacs Real Parts Examples:
As long as an instrument is "In Support" getting house numbered parts from HP/Agilent is not a problem, and you can be certain that any screening, selection or testing that the design requires has been done. Once support ends, life becomes much more problematic. Finding real HP spares is hard, and as time goes on, the supply inevitably vanishes of any parts that have high service failure rates, exactly the ones you want! Once all real parts are exhausted, using cross-reference data is the only remining path for repairs. It is important to recognize that a cross-referenced part may have had some secondary testing or selection for HP, and this data serves only as a guide, and cannot be definitive for every instrument. often, the vendor parts themsleves (especially germanium parts, FETs and power parts) are no longer in production, and the supplier may no longer even exist. When this happens, the chase gets even more complicated. |
